Earlier in the summer clutch started not fully disengaging, its always been low but it started dragging so i adjusted it. I played with the adjustment for a while mostly bouncing between way to high and way to low. Couldn't seem to get it right and i was dealing with pedal pump up and all the rest. I ended up stripping that rod and making a proper mess of things.

after reading all the how to's and finally having the time i decided to do it properly...

I removed the CMC re-threaded the rod and nut, reinstalled the master cylinder, set the rod to be shorter than correct, filled and bled the system and then went to check to see if the slave cylinder was free to move.

I squeezed the slave cylinder and it went in freely. but made and awkward squishing sound... sounded like air and water. im assuming you know what i mean. did it a few times and it started to go away a little. figured it had let air into the lines some how so i went to see how the clutch felt and it stuck to the ground. i cursed some and then came inside to post this before i break something else..

>no fluid can be found leaking from either the MC or the slave, could they still be blown?
>Am i probably dealing with just a blown slave or both. (I know its good to replace both but i need brake pads too...)
>can the master cylinder be damage by the rod bottoming out in the cylinder?(this happened when i was trying to adjust the clutch on the road side i made way to big of an adjustment and felt it hit bottom before the pedal hit the floor.)

thanks guys.. I know my engines, but apparently i still have a lot left to learn about the drivetrain side of things LOL.

Do not bump your thread.

I just had an issue where I could not get the clutch adjusted properly, per Jack's video. I also had issues with the pedal losing pressure after sitting for a while. I didn't know the age of the master or slave, so I figured I should replace them. I'd always recommend doing this as a pair. My guess is my master was bad, as someone from Jack's suggested when I spoke with them, as my problem was fixed.

I'd recommend getting only OEM parts, as I've heard about issues with aftermarket ones.

i have heard the same about non oem parts. Im looking for parts as we speak. any one have a comment on a rebuild kit vs assembly. I'm competent enough to do it, but is it just as good as new parts?

wasn't trying to thread bump, just add the new info on the ghost pedal syndrome.

and no bleeding the system has not been met with success.

When I put in my clutch I rebuilt my master and slave and I can vouch for them. In fact, 15k miles later they are still running strong. I'd also recommend the reservoir bypass line. I bought the kits from RRE (I didn't even know they sold rebuild kits) and had no problems whatsoever.

It was the slave cylinder. I replaced both and the master seemed to be fine. the slave however was sticking and just in bad shape all around.

I also found striped clutch line ends connecting to the slave and that goofy second reservoir. I will be replacing that whole section of hose with an SS line when i have the money.

the clutch feels great but the celebration was cut short by a sticking front brake caliper that was smoking a pad. so much for getting it back on the road this weekend.
Thanks for the help guys.
