i have a 98 eclipse gst ... 89,000 miles 7 bolt mostly stock...

Hi. i just got the car back from a rebuild about 2,000 miles ago i crankwalked once so got new bearings rods Balance Shaft Eliminator Kit and block bored... car ran great i was driving on the highway for a morning rump pretty hard driving not too hard .. and i get of the highway stop at light go again at like 25 mph my oil light comes on and my gauge starts dropping to zero..i was close to my house so i drove 12 blocks and pulled it in and shut it off..i then started it to show my friend put a stethoscope and just heard a whining noise you could hear it pretty well from oil pan.No knock or any other noise car was ran m=no more than 5 min after oil pressure dropped..also you can smell something burning . engine has no leaks or no smoke.. could it be balancing shaft kit? or what could it be please help.lucas

You should drop the pan to investigate, or at least drain your oil and look for fragments of bearings and such.

Did you drain your oil after the rebuild?

guys thank you so much for your replys.. Im goin to drop the oil pan tomorowmorning i drained the oil no flakes no nothing oil looked pretty good.... what could of cause my car too lose oil pressure like that thoE?? what should i look for? and if i dtop the pan and see evething ok rods bearings are good... whats next?? also how can i get to the balacning kit? Thanks, lucas

so i took of exhaust dropped the highly sealed oil pan, and i cant beliave what i found..

the balance shaft elimination kit the small stub that comes in the kit in my oil pan kind of bruised of little chips on the side and the middle.. there was no silver in the pan and no flakes just that one piece.......

how the heck could this ever get loose??its threaded into the gear inside the oil pump..

i got that installed when i got my block bored......... 2,000 miles later this happened..

I'm very stressed out due to the reason all my money i will have this year went to the rebuild...

what do you guys think and suggest about this whole situation .. thanks for all replies. lukas

no oil pressure shut it down, hopefully your engine isn't toasted id get in touch with the shop that did the work on your car and talk to them.

yes deffffff jd i called em and they tried giving bs saying that the machine shop put it in and they are responsible we have to call ... bring the car........

and i got charged 250 for the kit when it only costs 40 max so im stressed

Gotta put Red Loctite on that stubby shaft nut and torque the shyte out of it. It did just fall out right. It didn't break due to lack of lubrication right? Just fell out? Maybe it got knocked around a bit by the crankshaft counterweights after it fell out.
