I just rebuilt my engine and i am not getting any oil pressure before start-up. i have cranked the engine over many times and the light wont go off.

I then installed an aftermarket oil pressure gauge and it reads a pinch above zero( maybe its just the gauge coming on). I dont see oil getting into the head and i didnt prime the oil pump besides getting it wet with some oil so it wasn't dry.

How do i take it from here? do i run it for a minute to see if it builds? Can i maybe use my 90 ofh and prime oil into the lines? (taking off the oil cooler lines and seeing if i cant put or pull oil threw myself).

Thanks

Do you have a new oil pump? did you check the wiring, if you rebuilt the pump did you prime it, did you use assembly lube, if you rebuilt it?

i tore it down to clean it for anything from last engine i used it on and i put it back together with a coating of oil. Im sitting here wondering to myself if i also turned the oil pump sprocket until it turns back. My oil pan gasket it kind of leaking already with no pressure so i'm doubting the layer of rtv i used. The turbo oil drain tube where it connects to the pan is also barely seeping.

I went ahead and started the engine for 10 seconds and not pressure built. so i shut it down. Ran good and started instantly but oil pressure never came. So now before i mess anything else up since i have alot of time and money into this engine i think i might wait this irritation its giving me down and go at it again and check the oil pump and assembly.

Fixed i have pressure now. i just had to prime the engine threw the oil sending unit hole. used a hand pump from walmart and a quart of oil and it pumped all the way into the head and i got pressure. now it wont start but i got pressure at least.

I used the brake booster nipple off the intake manifold to get the oil into the sender hole.

Yea starts but compression is 110,115,110,115 dry and wet it is 150,175,150,175. Thinking my rings are having problems sealing. it has only been less than 10 miles though, maybe more time to seat rings. i also think turbo oil seal are out cause some blowby in the oil pan and oil is my intercooler lines all ready. not much oil but just enough.

Yea after 20 total miles they should be good. Hopefully! I would just recheck in 10 miles.

Think my turbo is causing blowby and im told that can help not seat the rings. imma address the turbo i think before i go much further. turbo was rebuilt by some unknown guy from ebay that i bought it off, had zero miles but i think it is messed up. oil pan has small bead of rtv on it with no gasket but its leaks all the way around. and after the last 2 miles of the 8 i think i have on it after full throttle 30-50s like the manual says the valve cover looked like it might have leaked slightly. thinking when i got on it the turbo started blowing into air into the oil return line.
