So today was my first time replacing an axle on my dsm. i have a 98 eclipse gsx. I was replacing the passanger side axle and as i removed it, started to leak out fluid. It was quite an amount of fluid but not too much maybe a couple ounces. Is this normal?

Yes, that is how the seals get lubricated.

Don't forget to refill it once the install is done, or better yet, drain it all and add some new oil.
