You can use an inductive timimg light (the kind that the clamp goes around the plug wire) & close the clamp part, & hold it sideways over the # 1 or # 4 coil until you see the strobe flash . . . :talon:
 
I understand that, but there isn't enough clearance. The coil barely sits above the valve cover and i would have to pull it out in order to get the clamp over it. Unless I pull it out and let it arc, running on 3 cylinders. Are you saying to just hold it next to the coil??
