[RESOLVED] high oil pressure then low oil pressure

okay so i was driving from eastern wa to seattle ( its a lot of long straight roads through fields) and i was doing about 90 (there is no one on the roads) and i noticed my stock oil guage was a little high about 1/3 of the way between the middle hash mark and the top so i began to slow down and i got to a stop sign then the oil pressure just started going down slowly even as a accelerated it was still going down so i began to pull over right away and by the time that i pulled over it was reading 0 oil pressure so turned the car off got out and checked the oil level. It was perfectly normal so im out in the middle of pretty much no where at 11 at night so i had to do something so i started the car gauge still at 0 got out and listened sounded perfectly normal no tapping no anything so i drove about 50 feet felt fine got out and listened . same thing checked the oil again all was fine, so i proceded to drive home about 2 hours later i noticed the gauge was back to normal operating levels. Im pretty confused what could be going on?

check the sending unit and see if the wire connection to the unit is making tight connection - being just clipped on the end of the sending unit.

where is the sending unit

The sending unit is on the doohicky that your oil filter screws to. If it's leaking replace it.

alright i found the problem the wire had just come loose and fallen off of the pressure gauge sender so now its all good. but was it normal for my oil pressure to be as high as it was about 2/3 of the way up at about 4k rpms cruisin on the free way?

yes mine does that and it is fine\.

Yes mine too. 75-100 psi on the freeway on my 4G61 and my last two 4G63s.
