So, the car may have been found. It was apparently dumped right up the block from where one of my great aunts lives, and she spotted it. Supposedly it's only missing the hood, but I'm about to head down and see. I'll try and post some pics. Thanks again for everything folks, it's comforting to know you have a group of people behind you when something like this happens.

Wow, consider yourself very lucky! Hopefully the car's in good condition, minus the missing hood. First thing when you get the car back is to install an alarm and kill switch.

Honestly, I'm so confused right now. I've never seen something like this.

I had to have been the victim of the laziest and or dumbest car thief in the entire bay area.

As far as I can tell, all he took was my hood, headlights, turn signals, tail lights, center console, glove box, and back seat. He also took some cheap ebay strut tower bars that have been on the car since I bought it. The airbag, radio, and speakers were removed, but left in the car. He also stripped out my beat/scratched hatch panels. The part that made me laugh the most had to've been the fact that he stole my center caps, but didn't even bother with the rims ( I have heptagonal lug nuts, and the idiot was too stupid to use the tool in the glovebox I guess ).

The gem beyond gems though is he took the cracked valve cover I had just swapped out and left in the back seat. Of course, I'm upset that the car was stolen, but for how piss poor of a job was done, I almost think it was worth it for the laugh. I just don't know how I should process this.

Looks like you get to upgrade headlights and taillights and a CF hood now!

Look for the misc parts on craigslist and beat the guys ass. Unless he just stole the car to get various parts he needed for his own eclipse or something...

I bet his car was a N/A. and bought from an auction stripped. What area did you find the car in? Bet the probably live around there. Look around for ricer cars in that area. I would assume it would be them.

Glad to see you found your car What a dumb ass thief!! haha... What I usually do if I'm not going to be driving the eclipse for awhile I take my AEM with me that way there's no way anyone can drive off with the car best security mod . If you're looking for carbon fiber hood pm me I will give you a great price you won't be able refuse

Lol, Defiant! That's exactly what I do when installing alarms for my friends.
some get 120db horns pointing up behind bench seats, some get 2 mini square horns under seats firing into the foot well area. Needless to say the shear pain they cause in your ears is enough to make most ppl exit the vehical in less than 30 seconds.

Congrats on finding your car. Could have been worse. Make sure you get an alarm with an ignition kill. You could also think about running a fuel cut off switch in an inconspicous area.

I say time for a 2GB front end conversion. Do you have full coverage? They should cover all your losses as long as you have your reciepts for anything aftermarket. Like my buddy and his 5.0 Mustang. When he got his car stolen, he had all component speakers installed with a full stereo system setup installed. Also he had a full bag of paintball gear in the car as well. He had all his reciepts and insurance paid him out almost 10K for everything (But he didn't get his car back).

I think anything OEM should be covered w/o incident. Good luck on what you plan to do man.

Just finished wrapping things up with the police tonight. I want to say it was fate, I've been meaning for the longest to put the car up and give it some tender loving care now I don't have much of a choice. It also opened the door for me to snag an immaculate AW11 for daily driving. Anyone know of any good car storage facilities that allow 24/7 access?

I've been browsing around craigslist for a private listing, but if anyone had any previous experience with putting their car up, it would be very much appreciated. Again, thanks for the big show of support everyone.

I'm glad to hear that you got your car back and it was only little stuff that was missing. I wouldn't doubt that it was a bunch of little kids that didn't know what to look for or didn't know what they were doing. Now it gives you a reason to upgrade and work on the car again.
