ok so i blew my headgasket and now i took the exhaust manifold off and the intake manifold off. i took off the valve cover now im stuck. i dont know what size the bolts are in the motor to get to the head. and yes i work grave yard shift so this is normal for me to be up all night would love some help thanks:dsm:

alright thanks guys for the help this is my first time tearing threw a dsm motor

i was using hayman book for advice but it covers to many engines from 90-99 so i got stuck and confused. still stuck just not as confused with it so i will need a 12 point 12mm for the head and a 11mm for the studs hmm does the socket have to look like the bolts all pointed? because my 11mm and 12mm doesnt fit the studs... or does my sockets have to have that diamond shape thing? hmm there apr studs ??????????

Not to flame, but would have been better to take off the valve cover first to see what is needed to take off the head before dealing with the intake/exhaust manifolds. No harm, no foul... done it before on other cars myself. Just a pointer for the future.

I have a 1G, so figure from other posts that the head bolts are different. I know that mine are HEX rather than regular 8 or 12 point socket sizes. Go through what tools you have and see what does it.

11mm does not fit and the same with 12mm.. i noticed there apr studs and none of my tools in my socket set or toolbox fit it. anyone have any ideas what size they are maybe hex? how could i tell:confused:

every 4g63 head ive pulled with stock bolts took a 10mm hex, like an allen wrench but you can get them to fit on a ratchet

anyone out in phoenix with a torque wrench a fellow dsmer can use?
