hey guys as you all know iam new to the dsm world. I posted last time that i had left my car running and explained that i forgot about it. well today i worked on the car and told everybody that i would get back to them about my issue. I posted also that once the car warms up it dies and will not staqrt back up until it cools down. Today i started it filled it with coolant put a new radiator cap on , the old one leaked a lil bit and ran the car , not good:cry: coolant started to come out of the 02 housing and by the timing side area where the head gasket is , also my timing belt vibrates up and down way like crazy never seen that before????:barf: so my conclusion to all of this is i blew my headgasket when i left the car running and one of my balance shafts are loose??? because i have something that sounds like a rod knock but am unsure? i heard that balance shafts when they go bad it sounds the same? the reason im blaming the shafts because of my timing belt is vibrating like crazy , how can i test and know that its a rod knock or balance shaft? and i noticed while the car was running and the knock was there that i touched my head and i cant feel the knock but when i touch the intake manifold i can feel the knock , anybody know anything?

Wow...

First, capitalize your sentences. Site rules.

Second, coolant out the o2 housing? I'm guessing you don't have a downpipe on and just started the car to make sure it ran. Yeah, sounds like a bad headgasket. Really bad. You probably don't want to run the motor anymore or you risk hydrolocking it (you'll bend rods). You need to check the head and block for flatness before putting your next headgasket on.

Thirdly, you say your timing belt is loose. You probably didn't properly set the tensioner when you redid the timing. A common first-timer mistake.

Fourth, knocking? Are you sure you have your balance shafts set properly. It's possible to have the rear balance shaft out of phase and have the timing marks still line up. Try following this. Timing Belt VFAQ (Timing Belt TSB - ENHANCED)

It sounds like you need the help of someone local that knows what they are doing with motors. You might have bit off more than you can chew right now.

man you can say that again, right before i bought the car the headgasket was done by another guy . when i bought the car belt was not vibrating like it dose know nor did i see this happening to the headgasket.

From what you described you need the following:

New TIMING BELT with new tensioners and new balance belt ( set as per the manual of our cars by someone who knows what he is doing)

new water pump ( change it since you are there already)

new Head gasket ( check the head and the rods before as mentioned before)

let us know the update as what you have now is really more that you can chew

Good LUCK
