My brother and I just took a few gauges out of his 1995 GST - they were installed when he bought the car and the previous owner couldn't do a clean wiring job to save his life. Anyways, while removing the 5 lbs. of wire, I was cutting wires and ripping them out. I always checked to make sure I knew exactly which wire I was cutting and the whole process went really well. However, directly to the right of the gas pedal there is a black box with "AEC5NK1X01" written on the front and on the back is a diagram of the accessory harness conectors (see pictures). There is a white/black wire coming out of the side of the box that I don't remember touching, but it's not connected to anything. I just need to know what this should be connected to or if it's supposed to be just hanging there. Thanks!

I spent 11 hours under my dash when I was doing my swap and well, I dont recall ever seeing anything like that under the dash. Since it has a mitsu logo I say keep it, if the way its hooked up is not causing any problems, I say find a way to mount it back up there and leave it be. Maybe look for a few connections that could be plugged into it that are not.

Ill see what I can dig up for info on that part.

...

Simple google search brought this up.

Keyless Entry Unit; Part # AEC5NK1X01

Well, the keyless entry still works fine and so do all the accessories so I guess that wire doesn't need to be hooked up to anything? I did check and I didn't see any open connections or other wires hanging around. Thanks for the info The EE. If anybody else can provide more info that would be great!

It may simply be an unused wire, perhaps for a different model of car or something. If the diagram shows no info and everything works fine. Throw some E-Tape around the end, tuck it under the dash and forgetaboutit.

When I was researching how to program my keyless remote (oem/stock), I ran into a thread/faq/walkthrough here, showing a similar box. Saying it was under the dash. This seems to be (as someone already confirmed) the keyless entry box. This unit must be the rare type, because most have the one in the rear driver side next to the 6x9 speaker.

Is there a small push button switch attached to taht unit?

There ya go. That's what it is. Keep it intact. That seems like the rare setup. I wonder what distinguished which cars got that, from the standard setup where its by the rear driver 6x9 speaker.

With that unit, its actually easier to program new keyfobs. It has that switch, which acts as the method where we ground the pins on the OBDII port.

I would think thats only found in the earlier 2gs. Both of my 95 GSXs don't have that. One of them is equipped with factory alarm, in which case my keyless entry unit is as mentioned by the 6x9 speaker. My other 95 GSX did not come with keyless entry/stock alarm. Of course I do have power locks. So just weird.

To bring this thread back:

I just bought a new remote for my car. I currently have the really old style that is all black and has 2 buttons. I got the new one that has 3 buttons (including the Panic). I tried the '97-'99 method of programming it but it didn't work.

Does anyone know exactly how to use the box to reprogram a remote for a '95? Or maybe a link that describes how? I see RedTurboEclipse mentioned that I need to use the little button on the side but I'm not sure how that works.

Hello, my name is Rafael, I'm just from Brazil. I have a doubt, I think from the conversation above, this is the correct control lock module? can someone tell me which control is for her?
