[RESOLVED] 2G Knocking drivers front side.

Hi Guys, I changed my rims last week, after 2 days, I started to hear this knocking sound, sounds like hitting metal with a wooden hammer, this happens if the car rolls on Drive/ or when I let go of the gas pedal.. When accelerating it does not make any noise, let go of gas, noise starts, hitting the brakes noise stops. Anyone ever experienced this issue? Oh yea... when the sound comes you can also hear like some one is trying to strech rubber belts.. (twisting of rubber) also i can feel the knocking vibration on the steering wheel slightly.

Check the wheel bearing.

will do. Could it be the harmonic balancer? hmm i replaced that last year... Will let you know if its the bearings.

Hi, checked the car. When I move the left wheel, back and forward, I can hear the clunking noise... Meaning that is good probability, it is the bearings?

I was going to say to check your lug nuts, but since you man-handled the rims, you'd have realized that already. Sounds like the wheel bearing to me. Check the outer tie-rods, too.

To check the bearing right shake it up and down not side to side. hold the top of the rim and tire and the bottom then shake. If you do it side to side you are testing the inner and outer tie rod ends.

Great... Will have to look into it more tomorrows, since im at work hehehehe. Will let you know... If its the lug nuts i am going to hit myself with my own stupidity

im in the process of changing the passenger side wheel bearing as we speak. it started knocking bad, unless i was accelerating or braking then the sound would go away.

Axle carrier bearing's bolts have broken on the block, under the AC bracket.

Sheeesh... I cant belive the lug nuts went loose... wow.. and what a horrible knocking it caused.. Thank you guys for your help, now ill know what to look for when such noises appear.
