Replacing the intake gasket

Hello guys. My car has been Idling real erratic and rich. It turns out that I have a pretty big intake leak. The leak seems to be at several spots along the top of the intake. I found it by spraying small amounts of brake cleaner on the intake gasket. As soon as the stuff got on it the RPMs would shoot up. My questions are. Do you put gasket sealer or RTV on the gasket when you put it on? I bought a Fel-Pro. Would it be that much better if I used a OEM gasket? When I had the head rebuilt and reassembled it. I don't think I put any RTV on it. That was a couple of years ago. Thanks

Get one of the Magnus heat barriar gaskets when you replace it. A good gasket shouldn't need any RTV IMO.

I have no experience with the Felpro Intake gasket. Any reputable gasket should work as long as both surfaces (intake and head) are cleaned of the old gasket material and the fasteners are properly torqued. No RTV needed.
