Hi!

I've figured out that the ecu in my car is probably broken. Got no spark and no check engine light. However when looking for a replacement I can't find one with identical "part number". My current one has MD169144 and I've found one with similar which is MD166255. Will this work or does it has have to be one with identical "part number"?

Many thanks.

Md166255 is a 2.0 n/a federal ecu 91-94. Not sure what that other one is for, doesn't come up on the list of ecu's for 1gs.

Ok weird. Its from a -91 2.0. What does "federal" mean? And does this mean the numbers doesnt need too be identical?

There are federal ecus, and cali ecus. Has to do with emissions. Federal is the way to go if your not in cali. If your car is a 90 you need a 90 ecu unless you want to swap some pins around. If its a 91-94 then any ecu from 91-94 will work.

I think its the ECU since I have fuel pressure and power to the coil but no spark. And I have no check engine light when switching ign to on. But I'm not sure, any other ideas?
