So while I replacing the valve cover gasket I noticed all of this gunk on the wiring what do I need to replace this wiring to clean up my set up? I know it’s old but I’m trying to preserve the life remaining, no crazy mods on the 420a

I used a heavy duty degreaser like some of the ZEP brand stuff, apply it full strength with a spray bottle and then rinse. Repeat as necessary. Pressure washer is also nice.

My wiring harness was oil soaked pretty bad so I stripped the tape/loom off first then degreaser, then pressure washer a couple times. I did this in conjunction with replacing a bunch of connectors like injectors, O2 sensor, etc. Then new tape/loom.
