I just replaced a completely worn ACT 2100 lbs clutch and cracked stock flywheel with another ACT 2100 lbs clutch and Fidanza flywheel and now the clutch wont disengage at all. I bought a longer slave cylinder rod but it didnt seem to have done anything except not allow the clutch to fully engage. I tried adjusting the clutch pedal and seems to have worked a litle bit but now i need to step on the pedal past the disengagin point till it hits the floor in order for the clutch to fully disengage, so now i have problems taking off because that litle extra that i push the pedal comes out fast and causes the car to hop and almost stall. I was wondering if any of you have experienced this problem after replacing the clutch and flywheel and if you can help me fix the problem or even figure out what the problem is?
Thanks.

did you greese the rod that the slave cylinder and the throwout bearing work off of? i have done that once at work, couldnt figure out why cluth wouldnt come back out but i ended up tearing it back down and it was getting stuck on that shaft and comes out of the tranny i just cleaned it good with brake kleen and put wheel bearing greese on it, not much tho because you dont want shit flung all over the damn flywheel and clutch

I presume you are talking about the pilot shaft (input shaft) sleeve, as an alternative to grease you can use graphite or teflon powder which doesn't collect clutch dust.

This may help you identify where and if you have problems.

It costs $300 for me to tear the tranny down again and put it back, i just spent $900 to change the clutch and flywheel. I was hoping there was another option so i didnt have to take the tranny out again, but now i am starting to doubt this mechanic because he didnt even work on my car, he put his assistant to work on it, he says he used plenty of white grease on the shaft and the bearing, so i'm guessing thats not the problem.

well, like me, you can do it yourself....never doing it before....took me a day to drop the tranny, another day to install the clutch, slave cylinder, and LSD.....then another day to install the tranny back in the car.

Whoah, if you paid $900 for clutch job and it's not working then let's not fool ourselves you need a lawyer.

Why are you involving us in incompetent repairs.

It came out to be around $900 with parts ($330 Clutch kit, $260 flywheel), labor was only $300.
I called ACT today and they told me that it could be that Fidanza sent me a flywheel with the wrong step height, as they are known to do that sometimes, so i am going to contact them tommorow to find out what i can do if that happens to be the case. They also told me to torque the pressure plate to 25 ft/lbs (sounds a litle high to me), so i am going to have to pay the mechanic another $250 to take down the tranny again a inspect everything to make sure its correct. The mechanic tells me that the torque would not be the problem eventhough they only gave it around 17 ft/lbs of torque.
