replaced bearings now crank wont turn

I have a 95 talon tsi and I am putting new crank and main bearings. I put the rod bearings on the outside rods, cylinder 1 and 4. Then when i put in the bearings for the inner two rods the crank wont spin? Does anyone know why this is happening?

sounds like the bearing caps were swiched around or installed backwards.

The rod caps are backwards, or switched. If you had the wrong sized bearings, the first pair you installed would have seized. This is if the crank, and rods are in good condition. Why are you changing the bearings? I have a feeling the answer to this will have an impact on your problem.

may I ask why you're just replacing the bearings? I'd suggest just rebuilding the whole bottom end not just replacing bearings.

i bought the car about a week ago. After two days of driving i heard an engine noise and it turned out i spun one bearing. This is why I'm replacing them.

In that case, you need to check the journals for wear and make sure everything is still in spec, which it is very likely not. If you just replace the bearings without checking the specs and/or not knowing why they spun in the first place, you will likely find the bearings spin again soon.

after you spin a bearing it is a 110% chance you will spin the same bearing again without either reconditioning the rod, cutting/polishing the crank, or align honing the block depending on what bearing spun. do not just slap new bearings in and think your problem will be fixed.
