So i'm pickin up my new talon next week and I want to do some preventative maintainance. I know I want to replace all fluids and filters. The timing belt was replaced 20k mi ago so I dont believe that need to be done, but I was reading that related items ought to be changed as well...ex. tensioner?? Any comments would be appreciated! Thanks!

Well find out if the previous owner replaced the tensioner when he did the timing belt. If not you could replace it but I know of people that are still using the old one. As long as it works fine there should be a problem.

I would do plugs, wires, and brakes. Anything that is a wear item. If it is new when you do it then you EXCATLY how long it has been on and how long you have before they need to be replaced. So many people just take the sellers word and hope for the best, I would unless you know them really well.

so lets say i change the tensioner with the belt, anything else that would be good to change while i am in there?

depending on the mileage you might wanna do the waterpump...

balance shaft belt...and the tensioner for that as well...and there is 2 pulleys in there as well you might want to change
