Okay so my alternator took a dump on me this morning and Im going to be switching it out this weekend. I noticed I have an oil leak coming from what looks to be my oil pump area. My question is how much more work will I need to do to replace the pump while I do the alternator? Also I have a 97 gsx automatic if it helps. Any advice is appreciated.

You will need to remove the timing belt (then re-time it when you put it back together) to do the oil pump. I would first verify the leak is coming from the oil pump and not the oil filter housing or the cam seals that also tend to leak before pulling the oil pump and front case. It's really quite a bit more work to remove the oil pump.

Ok cool good to know. Ill check those before I think about taking everything apart.
