OK I am instaling a new oil pump, and front cover. I was just wondering if anyone has any little tips on installing it. I am on a tight schedule to fix it and cant afford any leaks or anything I just want to do it right, so if anyone has any little tips on sealing it, or priming the gears anything will eb greatly appreciated.

dont let the oil pickup tube get bent and rest on the oilpan without you knowing. froze a good motor because of that

Yeah, it's not a bad idea to measure the distance between the pickup to the pan. I used some good old aluminum foil and made a little cube out of it, set it on the pick up, layed the pan down on to the block, then pulled it back up and measured the thickness of the crushed aluminum. It actually worked well.

Then again, unless you damage the pickup or change the pan, it's a little tough to have this clearance change on you.
