Well, I got the car running for about 2 day and what a great 2 days it was. Until of course it blew the main fusible link.

Now at first, the main fusible link popped, the car shut off....and then after 3 mins it turned back on. Later, the car shut off permanently after about 5 min. Now you may ask...how does a fuse do that? The answer was the shop that did my work either used or missed the fact that the main fusible link was OPENED and REPLACED with a piece of wire between the two connectors. :ohdamn:

So now, anytime I put a fuse in there, it gets instantly popped...I tried 2 30amp fuses and a 40 amp fuse.

My questions are

1. What would be causing it?
2. What are some good places to start testing?
3. If the main fusible link is popped, can other fuses be blown as well?
4. What does the main fusible link connect too? (I tried looking a a few diagrams but they are a bit blurry).

Thanks
Alan

Replace the fusible link with a same amp rated circuit breaker or a cheap fuse holder with lots of cheap fuses. Start isolating circuits until the one you isolate stops poping the fuse. The problem will be with that circuit. Probably a hot wire going to ground or a bad component. Isolate components until it stops poping the fuse.

Well, after searching through wiring diagrams, I found out that its coming from the ignition switch.

Has this ever happened before to anyone? I can't seem to find any information on how to replace it either.

It can be on a circuit that the ignition sw. energizes. My Dodge truck would blow one of the fusible links under the hood every time I put the ignition sw. to acc. to start it. The acc. powers the fuel pump and other things. In this case.It turned out to be a wire that goes to the transmission that was grounding out on it. It took a while to find it. Isolate circuits and components and you'll norrow your search.

See I would start isolating problems but it pops the fuse regardless of if there is a key in the ignition or not.

I am going to pull it tomorrow and see what I can do from there.
