I admit, I'm too lazy to go to the store and buy a Hayne's manual right now, since I'm in a groove tearing apart the Talon to get it ready for paint LOL. Does anyone have any recommendations for removing the side skirts and the side molding from the car with the intention of not harming the mounting clips? I don't care if a few get broken as long as I have some in one piece to source replacements from the dealer.

If you're talking about the plastic body moldings along the bottom of door and to peice that runs from the front fender to the back quarter, when I did mine, I just used a long flat screwdriver and just poped the clips out by twisting the head of the screwdriver. If you're real carful you might not wreck to many. I found that even though the clips still look intact they will no longer hold and will need to be replaced. All the molding tape on my car had already let go so I can't help you on that part. Small white clips part # mb319754 (2 per package) longer black clips part # mb634425 (1 per package) these are part #'s from chrysler, I don't know if Mitsu numbers are different. These peices were pricey the mb319754's listed for 6.80 per pacage and the mb634425 listed for 3.55 each.

You will have to take the weather stripping stuff off probably, and use laquer thinner or something to break down the sticky left overs on the car. You can buy the stripping from just about any auto store, or paint and body shop. Im sure that chrysler or the mitsubishi dealer would have the stuff as well but you will probably pay a lot more there. You might not have to take it off but the chances of it still working after all the years its been sitting there are not very good. You can leave those on to paint the car, it should work fine, just tape a thin strip right where the crease in the part is, or take them off and fill the holes with some fiberglass work.
