I just read you don't have to after every manual I've read instructs to do so. Any opinions on this from those of you who've done it? I guess why do it if you don't have to right? Besides, I couldn't figure out a way to get to those bolts in the back. Just unbolt that support stay in the back of it right, then I'll just have to disconnect it from the head once I get it out?

This is how I (we) pull the head out here in SoCal. ;)

Wait a min, what are those funny multi teeth bolts on the head? Are those called torx or something? I got the IM off and got all excited about removing the head but ran into these. Torx sockets? Are they what I need? A whole set? How many of these bolts are in the car and why did they use them for the head? Because the head is special and deserves only a special mechanic with special star shaped tools to dismantle it? What's the deal here??

6-bolt 1gs had a 10mm allen head bolt, to remove it you've got to get a impact allen socket or else you'll just twist it right off. Something similar to this... ---> Tough 10mm 1/2" DR Allen Socket

7-bolt 1g head bolts can be removed with the standard 12mm (12pt) socket.

You've got a 93 N/T so, assuming you've got the stock motor (7-bolt), you should be able to pull the head bolts with a 12mm (12pt) socket.

6 bolt uses a hex head socket. 7 bolt is external unlike the 6 bolt but it is not a standard hex head. It's multipoint and a multipoint socket will fit it. Regular metric stuff. No special socket required. Cmon craig you knew the bolts were different 6bolt vs 7 bolt? :)

Oh, I guess I've never seen 12pt bolts or nuts. You know though, my 12mm 12pt socket is a bit loose so im going to have to find an 11mm. Is that strange?
