ok, i did a search and really found nothing... i need help, and would liek some pics of where you 2G guys put your battery in the rear? also, i know i've seen pics of putting the cut off switch in the key hole,,, if anyone has pics of that too i'd really appreciate it...

one last thing, i have also seen pics of a 2g engine bay that had the fuse box moved, to where it was vertical, instead of horizontal... if anyone has done that could i please see? thanx!

I moved mine to therear tub with the cutoff switch next to my license plate.

May I ask why you want to do this? IMHO, it isn't worth it. It is a hassle, you add a bunch of weight in cables and switches and such.....unless you are running 9's and require a master shutoff switch, I would skip it.

ok, the car is not a DD, its being race prepped... i'm moving it to clean up the engine bay mostly. All i asked for was pics and a lil bit of help... not to hear how its not worth it, or how stupid it is...

Not to rain on your parade, dont have any advice of teh relocater in a 2g, but keep in mind NHRA rules and regulations on the kill switch, type of battery, etc. etc

yea, i've got everything already except the switch which is on the way... i'm really just trying to find a place to put it in the trunk. the damn spare tire well is soo huge there is no room, and those stupid brackets are all in the way... i guess i'm gonna just have to cut all that shit out...

That's actually what I plan on doing: Removing the spare tire/windshield washer fluid bracket from the bottom of the tub and putting the battery box in there. Then I was going to move the washer reservoir siedways on the driver's side and make bolt spacers for it. The spare tire is just going to have to be happy living in my garage. :) As soon as I do my relocation, I'll be doing a complete write-up with plenty of pictures for us 2g guys, including my idea for an easily-acccessible, yet totally hidden, cut-off switch. As much as I want to be compliant with most track rules, I still don't want some dumbass disconnecting my battery and erasing all my DSMLink settings while I'm at work.

Hello
Just some babble...
The battery location on the '98 I have (not sure of other years) is unusually high. A big hunk of lead that far off the ground definately has a negative effect on the center of mass. I am not sure where I am moving mine to (just started the project) but it has got to move - for stability/handling reasons - not drag racing.

It sounds like you want to know how to do this, so I'll explain. For my relocation in my ole RS-T, I removed the battery. Then, I cut off the leads for the battery terminals off the wiring. After that, I stripped all the wiring. Finally for under the hood, I ran a long, large gauge wire from the trunk to the stripped wiring, stripped the large gauge wire, slipped on a shrink wrap, soldered the multiple wiring together with the large gauge together, and heated the shrink wrap over the joint. This was only done for the positive power wire. The ground wiring that lead to the other terminal on the battery was bolted to the frame of the car. To ensure a good ground, I sanded the paint to the metal. I then moved to the trunk to soldered the terminals to the end of that long wire ran to the trunk and a spare (however long piece) of wire. I took this small piece of wire and did the same sanding process to a suitable place on the car, then bolted it down. I ended up using metal straps to hold it down. For you, since it's stripped and strictly for track use, I would invest in a battery box. I know some are made out of aluminum and some might be made out of high density plastic/rubber. Better to invest now. Before working in the trunk, I would definately mount the box. Hope that helps. Good luck.

ARE YOU SEROIUS??? i just stated above that i HAVE everything, just am wanting to know how others put their battery back there... you are a tool

also, i found out that if you just hit the brackets really hard the tack welds break pretty easy and those brackets will come out... i'm going to try today and i'll let you know if that really works LOL... a friend who's done this already told me thats what he did so,,, we'll see...
