replaced the computer with a salvage yard comp. worked fine. went to start the car a couple days later and would not start. same thing it was doing when i got the car. went to the fuel pump mpi relay to see if that was it. here is what i get. push clutch pedal in turn key to start. relay clicks once and that is it. no start. but when i manually close the other side of the relay the car starts and runs fine. let off that part of the relay and car dies. please help me figure out this. thanks agian 92 n/t fwd 2.0

It's not clear exactly which relay is clicking and which one your manually closing.

Sounds like from this description (and not the one in your PM) that the fuel pump relay is closing when you activate the starter. I assume the engine cranks though you don't say, but doesn't start. If the CEL doesn't tune on for 5 seconds when you turn the ignition on then the ECU is working and nothing interesting is going to happen.

So let us know which of the relays is doing what and what the CEL does so we can give better suggestions.

Been busy at work. Sorry Steve here is what is happening. the cel light does not come on with the the ignition on. You are right the fuel pump side of the relay is working. The engine does crank over. The other side of the relay does not close. ( i assume that is the mpi side). Where to now. Thanks agian for the help.

Check the MPI fuse under the hood (attached to battery terminal) with a multimeter to make sure it is good (sometimes those type of fuses blow in weird areas that can't be seen)

If it isn't blown, you either have a wiring issue or an ECU issue.

And if it's not blown the odds are high it's the ECU.

Sounds good steve. I will check the fuse. it did look allright but i will throw the meter to it tommorrow night. the computer i have know idea how to check. will a computer from a 95 eclipse work same motor and a 5 spd.
