Hey everyone, so earlier today I was out running errands and started to hear a creak when I turned the wheels. I figured it was low on power steering so I stopped and had a look..it was full. So I headed home and on dry pavment I was able to replicate the creak so I jacked it up and couldn't find any signs of balljoint wear, exessive play or anything so I set her down and it doesn't creak anymore? Anyone have any idea what just happened, blows my mind and almost scares me because the last thing I need it a balljoint gremlin LOL.

Did you jack it up from under the control arm to remove the weight of the suspension from the ball joint? Sounds like a ball joint to me. If the car is jacked up and the suspension is allowed to hang, the weight of it will keep the ball joint from showing play.

So I got around to installing the new arm/ balljoint combo and found the old balljoint didn't have excessive freeplay or anything but it looked to have been filled with water...the boot was even in decent shape, anyhow problem fixed!

could be ball joint or do what i did, crwl under there and grease the piss out of all the rubber bushings

I second the ball joint...as I tell most people around here check online through dodge/Mitsubishi with you vin. after arguing with the dealer about how my car has never been wrecked. and going through the website on my phone in front of them I got dodge to perform my factory ball joint recall. even if you already switched em out give them the option to reimburse you for em or perform the service for safety there choice. its for lower only on 2'gs most pops are cv axles and a winding sound is power steering that's been my experiences.

yeah was just throwing free ball joint out there if he didn't do the lowers. I mean if he did one upper mine as well knock out lowers. in my opinion. but glad its fixed. im fixing to have to do my upper passenger side.
