Rejuvenating old Power Windows?

Hey guys, anyone have any tips on how to get my 1g power windows to roll up and down smooth and fast again? Sometimes rolling back up takes a while and it bugs...

Try WD40 on all the rubber pieces around the window. Also lube up the track. Will have to pull the door panel to get to it.

You can also pull the power window motor case off and clean the motor where the brushes make contact.I use a pencil eraser.Get the copper all nice and shiny.While your there check the condition of your brushes.If they are low you can get some cheap from a motor shop and solder them in.

im a 2g, not a 1g but how hard is it to removed the power window motors?

Removing the motors isn't that difficult. Remove the door trim. There's 4 screws in the front part of the panel, one hidden one is in the carpeting on the bottom. One is hidden behind the square piece near the lock button.

There's 2 bolts holding the window glass in place, two bolts holding the guide arm, unplug the wiring to the motor.

I've found that a good lube is usually all that's needed to get them working right. Being a cheapo, I grabbed a can of chain lube from the bike, stuck the nozzle in the window tracks and sprayed them down. No problems in over a year now.
