Regular v-band vs male/female combo flanges

Ordered a 3" v-band setup from Ebay for the downpipe I'm making up, and the flanges pictured had the male/female lip combo (like the Vibrant ones). They've sent me the normal flat finished type of flange though. Contacted them and they sent me the same type again. They said I can keep both flanges and get some money back or return both for a refund.

Not used v-bands before so am wondering: do the flat finished ones have seal well or should I really be looking to get the male/female flanged v-band?

My friend had one flat vband from ebay seal fine, but the other 3 did not. I order the lip'd vbands, and they seal everytime. I prefer the lip anyways, as it's the proper way.

The dynatech ones i am using on my downpipe and exhaust are the flat faced type. I will let you know how they work out in the week or 2 if i am lucky.

If you can afford them, get ones with a fire ring. they do seal better. They add another 2 turns that gas would have to otherwise NOT take with butt face-face flanges.

^ I get mine from ebay, SS, fire ring, and clamp, $24. I have them on my exhaust not, over 6+ months on it, still sealing perfect, and no rust as of yet (daily driven too).

Do you have a link? All the cheaper ones I saw had flat flanges.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Hmmm... $25 for international shipping and they refuse to ship to APO addresses which would make the price the same as domestic shipping
