Referencing BOV to another source?

I found this "alternative" to crushing a BOV on the 1000AAQ page, and I thought it seemed like a good idea. Has anyone tried to reference the BOV to a source behind the BOV? The person who wrote the original article praised its benefits, but I need some more opinions before I go out and try this. And does anyone know where I could find a "source" behind the throttle body, for the BOV?

Not a good idea.

The reason the BOV is sourced to the manifold is because you want it to open whenever there is a pressure differential across the throttle plate. If you dont have that reference, the BOV isn't going to work properly.

Not to mention the fact that it probably won't open AT ALL with the source before the throttle body.

You need vacuum in order to open the BOV. The only place you're going to find vacuum is behind the throttle body when the plate is closed or partially open.

In that article, the author doesn't make reference to what source he used on the throttle body. It is possible that he sourced it to a nipple that does have vacuum (there is one or two that do). I don't see how this would make that much of a difference compared to a nipple on the manifold, but maybe it does.

If the nipple is one of those that doesn't have vacuum, your BOV isn't going to function at all.

The article is from 1996...and I tried emailing the guy, but the email doesnt even exist anymore. Im guessing this doesnt work, due to the fact it died out, and Ive never ever seen this mentioned before.
