Alright, well I began tampering with the RFL so it would hold boost and become a little bit louder. I put 3 washers in and it got louder, but wouldn't hold the boost as well. So I added a fourth washer and it began to flutter. Normally I wouldn't think anything of this, but I ditched my old 1g BOV because it was fluttering and I suspected the BOV was junked.

I can't seem to figure out why the BOV is flutter. I redid the MBC and ran the vacuum line for the BOV direct from the intake pressure source, yet it still persists. Is it possible the vacuum source is plugged? The vacuum lines are brand new and still doing it, no kinks or anything either.

I'm stumped here.

Um.... do you think it could have anything to do with the fact that you've over tightened it?:nono:

And just FYI for anyone reading this. Let me say this again. Hard/Soft settings are not for "holding more boost", they control how easily the BOV opens under vacuum. If you set it too loose, it could be held open at idle or on deceleration. Good aftermarket BOV's have no problem holding whatever boost you're running. I have a Type RS set to FULL soft and its held 25psi without an issue. The reference line will see whatever boost the valve is seeing, so if you run 90psi, the valve will be getting held shut with 90psi on the top plus the spring preload. It will not open under any boost.

Hard/Soft settings are also not for making it "louder". BOVs are not for making noise. They're for preventing turbo damage. Set it how it WORKS best, not how it sounds best, and leave it alone.

So, according to your statement, then I must have overtightened my brand new 1g BOV then, right? :|
