Ok I was running some generic parts store gear oil in my car and it shifted pretty decent but downshifting to third would just about always grind/notch a little bit. So I decided from reading up to buy redline mt-90 so I put that in. I went for a drive and it seemed to be just about the same as the generic gear oil. Would it help if I drained out about a quart of the redline mt-90 and put in a quart of penzoil syncromesh? I was pretty dissapointed and I am sick of the third gear grind to downshift. Any input would be great.

No keep the 100% MT-90 in there as it has to work its way into the syncros. The penzoil SM is to thin and will not provide the needed protection to the gears and bearings..

Using high friction oils in a trans with failing synchros, will just damage other parts. Tearing it down and putting new synchro's in it will keep you from needing a whole new trans when the crappy oils lead to your intermediate shaft bearing failing, and grenading youre entire trans. If you don't want to tear it down, keep the redline, or other good synthetic oil in there and deal with the grind. Although either way, you are eventually going to need a new 3rd gear, synchro, and 3-4 hub/slider, from continuing to use it with a worn synchro.

Like the other guys said....gear oil changes are not a fix for a proper transmission rebuild when the transmission has not been maintained properly. If there are continuous grinds (in this case, 3rd gear downshifts), there are other problems that need to be taken care of inside the transmission.
