Redline Fluid Mix

I was wondering if 2 qts. Red Line MT-90 & 1 qt. Red Line Lightweight Shockproof Gear Oil would be a good mix? I will be putting this in a rebuilt tranny.

Yes that mix will work fine. Jack at Jackstransmissions.com Sugest a 50/50 mix of valvoline and shockproof when he runs out of the the mitsu fluid.

I wouldn't suggest putting the Heavy Duty Shockproof Gear oil in your freshly rebuilt tranny. I'm not saying that it would do any sort of harm, but the Shockproof Gear oil is mainly used in the transfer case or rear diff and is extremely thick.

For a freshly rebuilt tranny I would stick with OEM oil, but if you want to use Redline fluids I would stick with just straight MT-90. After a a few thousand miles (or 6 months) you could switch to a 2:1 blend of MT-90 and MTL.

Redline MTL fluid is a bit thinner then the MT-90 which will result in smoother, easier shifting but is rougher on your synchro's. MT-90 is a bit thicker and is good for prolonging the life of your synchro's. A nice blend of both is, IMO, ideal. The reason I say a 2 parts MT-90 to 1 part MTL is because you said that your tranny is freshly rebuilt.

This 2:1 mixture is what I still use on my original tranny with just over 100k miles on it.

Yeah I would hold off on the shockproof. On tre's website they say not to use shockproof. I just run oem and have no problems

I suggest the Evo MR gear oil. I did a quick review on that fluid after running the Redline.
