I just ran into this problem today as I went to play with CeddyMods and setting my fan on/off settings for my cooling problems.
So I open ECUFlash like I have done a 100x and there was this funny red border around the window and it just shuts down. I was like WTF, I restarted my computer and then was just about ready to uninstall the program and reinstall when I thought I would Google the problem.
Apparently last night or yestday my computer updated my Avast! library. I have the free version of Avast as my spyware and security. After a little digging on the web I found a couple of other instances with the same problem and they were talking about "sandbox" and "autoSandbox"
I searched the forum on Avast and found out indeed that they had come out with a new update that has a ActionListener for a program and if it is deemed suspicious or malicious then it puts it in the AutoSandbox, hence the red window and autoshutdown.
The fix is easy, open Avast!, on the left side is a tab for Additional Protection, first line is AutoSandbox, settings, then either uncheck the box, or do the drop-down and change to ask instead of auto.
My hour of frustration is now posted here for others ease. Now back to my fan settings...
