Hey guys.. i gotta problem here ... I just finished the rebuild on my 90 laser, and now the damn thing has no oil pressure. I do know that the balance shafts were removed, but nothing was done with the oil pump.. if im not mistaken, arent you supposed to have a bolt or something in the oil pump if you remove the balance shafts??

Hello... gotta problem here with my 90 laser turbo.. i just got done with a rebuild, and everything seemed ok.. been driving it for two days, moderate acceleration, boost and speeds.. anyway.. have had no problems exept low oil pressure.. at least lower than im used to.. well, we stopped to eat, got done, started her up, and took off. Ever since that, the car runs like poo... is shudders uner a light load, or coasting, and will not boost! No power.. still runs, but not smoothly at all.. idle is very choppy and it sounds like the entire valvetrain is clattering.. but everything is tight and seated.. think it could be timing? it ran fine for two days now all of a sudden, timing jomped or something? Im having a hard time keeping the right amount of tension on the belt.

Tell me you didn't remove the balance shafts and not install the stub shaft?

I didnt, the balance shafts were already out when i got the car.. when i rebuilt it, there was a loose bolt in the oil pump, but i did not know what it was for.. Then, i forgot to install it back when the motor went back together..

what can i do about this??

Stop driving it before you damage something, get a balance shaft removal kit, which will include a plug to keep the oil from leaking out. Did you check oil level? Probably an obvious question, but it might not be oil pressure, but oil volume which is leading to low oil pressure. Also the electrical connection on the oil sending unit is really faulty. I know that for the 92's at least there is a seperate sensor that will throw a CEL if oil pressure drops below 4psi, just something to think about.

where is the plug installed? Where does the oil leak from? Do i have to tear down the front of the motor for it?
