Well i'm rebuilding my bottom end, well my mechanic is, he's familiar with DSM's but not that much, i am providing him with a haynes manual and he know about cars too he has plenty of cars he works on that are in the 12's-13's

Well thing is i want to know where does it come to play that i should go to a real DSM mechanic when rebuilding a bottom end, is it that different?

I am eliminating b-shafts, putting in all new bearings and tensioner and gaskets. And putting the 6-bolt block on my 2g head, the cas wiring is easy and he can take care of that.

But i don't know if i'll have any trouble along the way he can't solve, so i'm asking to get some ideas so i can ask him before we start the work.

Thanks

If he is a good mechanic that will meet all the specs and tolerances when building the engine you will be fine. There is really nothing special about it.
