Rebuild Time! Should I remove the Balance shafts?

Calgary,
I am the latest owner of a broken DSM. Anyway I am getting my 7-bolt rebuilt with Eagle rods, Arias pistons, ARP head studs, Cometic head gasket, etc. I am also going to eliminate the balance shafts.

My question is to people whom are driving 4G63's with them removed. How much more does the engine shake at idle and 3000 - 4000 RPM? A local guy down here said his 1G ran pretty rough when he removed his and doesn't reccomend it. I don't mind a little more vibration but I don't want it rough as it is still going to be a daily driver in the summer.

Granted that my car is a 1g non-turbo, but it is the same engine considering. Anyway, when I had them removed on mine, the vibration was so bad that every screw and bolt on the rest of the car loosened up. This is accually no exageration.:( I had to retighten my sunroof, dash panel, and many of the bolts that mount engine parts. After being in the vehicle for more than 20 minutes, it was also my daily driver, I had a headache from hell!:barf: My back hurt and I couldn't carry a conversation with the person sitting next to me, let alone listen to my stereo.
So if you plan on having this as your daily driver and would still like to ride in comfort, I don't recommend it.:thumbdown I also have urethane motor mounts which intensifies this that much more, but I still believe that it will be just as bad. When I had them put back in, I really couldn't tell any loss in power. What was lost in comfort didn't make up for 1 or 2 hp gain. And to answer your other question, idle had the worst of the vibrations! It tapered off at highway cruising speeds, but it picked up again after 5000 rpms and when just driving around shifting through the lower power bands. But this is just my opinion from someone who did the exact same thing to my daily driver and then had to pay a fortune to fix the mistake.

:talon: :shhh:

remove them. period. there must have been something else wrong with the above persons motor. my motor(6 bolt swap, r oss on eagles, arps throughout): I built without the shafts, and I notice ZERO vibration from increase from my old 7 bolt stock setup. I built this motor myself, did it right and it runs beautifully. You'll have higher oil pressure, less things to go wrong, more power, and barely any increase in vibes.

DONT put them in.

I took mine out with this understanding as well .. haven't had a chance to start it yet, but so far I haven't heard many people complain and say they don't like this mod.

something is wrong with your car. i took mine out and didnt notice a difference.

If the balance shaft belt fails, it can vey easily take out the timing belt. And you can imagine how much bigger of a headache that will cause.

when i removed mine i hardly noticed anything at all. i could feel a very little bit more vibration in the pedals and steering wheel at idle. it's so little that you'll get used to it in like 20mins of driving, and noone that sits in my car has said nething about more vibration.
