Has anyone else had bad experiences like Loreak? Anyone else done it like this? I am totally confused on what to do now, and I want any and all opinions that anyone is willing to give. Thanks.

LOL

guess i will say something...... when i first got my 93 i didnt change the timing belt and the others anytime soon because the chick i got it from said the timing belt was serviced with all the other shit like 20,000 miles ago and all the other belts looked and felt good so i drove it like that for a bit.

when i finally changed my timing belt this is what i found LOL. :shhh:

that balance belt was in there for while it was all dry rotted. the place that serviced it must have just screwed the chick i got it from and took her money and said they did the work. oh well.

so ya you can run fine with that belt not on i have had the balance shit belt on and off and it makes no difference. my motor purrr's the same with or without it .

hope this helped :thumb:

you will be just fine cutting the front belt. i did this on my car WELL over 60k miles ago and i dont notice any real vibration. i have sence then done it to about 16-17 dsms who collectively done about 250k miles, and no complaints from any of them, only praise from a slightly faster reving motor and a couple horses freed up.

So all these years I've read about the DSM balance shafts removal, and you can simply cut the belt and everything is fine? Maybe because it was relatively new back then and now we have proof that you can just cut the belt and the motors will last. But it sounds like some people have vibration and others don't?

I THINK IT depends on how sensitive you are to vibrations and the like. some people will complain about any little thing they feel and others don't give a shit until something breaks.
i prefer to do it right and not have to worry about anything.

I found the same thing on my car when I changed my timing belt. It had 55K. When I rebuilt my bottom end I pulled them both out. Personally, I would either run them both or do it right and remove both of them.
