So a couple months back my can went down because I spotted a huge oil puddle under my engine and found my timing belt to be covered in oil and my spark plugs smelling like oil and gas.

I've finally decided on the path I'd like to take and what parts I'd like to go with since I've decided to pull the engine and do a "budget" type rebuild. The following list is what I plan on doing and I'd like to know from everyone out there if there is anything I either forgot, don't really need or even something you may suggest I need in place of something on the list.

All comments, suggestions and questions are wanted as I'd like to do this right the first time and keep in mind I'd like to track this car as well as drag race it, so that may give you an idea as to why I've chosen the path and parts I'm going with. Also all the current parts I have are in my sig. so if you don't see something on here look there first before you post up a question or comment about forgetting a part.

EVO3 16G
EVO3 O2
2G piston upgrade
Downpipe
Exhaust
ETS street or street/strip FMIC kit
Injectors (please recommend a size as I don't know what to go with)
DSMLink
Cams (264/272 or 272/272 setup?)
Cam Gears
Sprins and retainers
Head studs
Valves (if needed)
Upgraded lifters (I still have the old annoying ticking ones)
Wideband
EGT Gauge
MAF trans for my 3" GM MAF (if needed, don't know if I still need it with DSMlink or not)
Light flywheel
New Clutch Disc (Have ACT 2900lb PP, just need a disc--recommendations on what to get)
FPR Kit
Fuel Feed line upgrade (if needed)

Also Need: New struts, springs, brakes and pads and I was going to upgrade the sways and brake lines as well since I plan on doing some track events

This is all that I can think of right now but I'm sure I'm missing something. Also while the engine is out I plan on freshining up the motor with new gaskets, bearings, water pump, oil pump, etc. -- I want to be sure everything is fresh and ready to go.

My plans are to have a 350awhp (+/-20hp) on 92 pump that I can have fun with and take the track for some lapping or drag racing when I feel like it. I am finishing up on fixing my '89 CRX that has a B18A in it for my daily driver, so my Eclipse will be for those days I just want to take it out and cruise or have some fun, it definitely will not be my daily.

Thanks for taking the time to go over this and agian all comments, questions or suggestions are welcome. Thanks guys.:thumb:

720 injectors would do you just fine. your list looks pretty good to me. You may want to go with larger injectors and run E85 though, it truely is an amazing fuel. Don't forget a wallbro 255 pump and some sort of AFPR (neither are needed for that turbo, but it's nice to have them just incase you upgrade so you don't buy the parts twice if you decide you want more power in the form of either a bigger turbo or running E85)

Unfortunately we don't have E85 in the area I live yet but by the time I get the car done it might be here. I do have a rewired 255 walbro already and I was going to get the AFPR for exactly the reason you said, future upgrade after this turbo. Thanks for the reply, you were one of the guys that I hope'd would get back to me.:thumb:

turboglen is right and I can tell you first hand think this through very carefully. I sat in almost the same position as you a few years back and thought I only wanted xxx amount of power and now I have replaced many parts that I originally thought would be just fine.

If you are going to run link I would recomend some injectors in the 900-1k cc range.
You will still need a maf-t even while using link.
I think the 2900 is overkill and will only cause you problems later on down the road.
I would go with 1g pistons if it was mine for the simple fact that you dont have to have the rods machined. Others may disagree.
I would not go with a evo3 o2 housing unless you are getting a downpipe made to bolt up to that housing.
Springs and retainers are not needed with either of those cam setups and could save you some money for other things.
Lastly a e3 is not imposible to get to 350awhp but can be a pain in the but and doubtful on pump gas alone. In my experiences the e3 likes to produce knock when you really start pushing alot of boost with one.

The only thing I dont agree with turboglen on is that you will need to upgrade your fuel pump on a e3. The stock one will not support that kind of power and if you upgrade to a new fuel pump go with the 255 high pressure pump and add a afpr to it.

Hope this helps ya.

Edit here is a current list of e85 fuel stations in wa

Since you're going with DSMLink get 950's at the least. That way if plans change you don't have to upgrade the injectors. And if you ever plan to run E85 the bigger the injectors the better. I wouldn't go with 1600's but 950's, 1000's, 1050's or 1150's should be fine.

I didn't see you list a fuel pump. Make sure you get at least a 190 in there or a 255. Supra pump will also work but a bit more expensive.

3g lifters will get rid of the ticking.

As far as your power goals and ease of tuning a 2g MAS will probably be a better choice and cheaper than the GM MAF.

That's the exact problem I've been having is deciding to go big now or later. I'd like to go bigger but I see it hurting the performance for when I want to do track days and canyon runs and stuff like that. I was looking at the BW S258 or even the S366 but I don't know about going that big, I'm pretty confident the E316G will get me what I want for now and after I can buy a house a stuff then I'll look at going bigger. Also I was wondering why going with the ACT 2900 is a bad idea? I do agree with the E3 O2 being bad since you have to have a custom downpipe. If I have more questions or anything I'll hit you up with a PM. Thanks for the help and I think all those E85 stations are on the east side or way down south, a long ways from me.

I would not go with the 2900 (in my opinion) just for the simple fact that hard launches will tear up transfer cases. A 2900 grabs really hard and a 2600 can provide all the clamping force you need.

I would also wait on Group Buys too, im in the process of building my Talon from ground up and i have saved a ton of $$ by these group buys and buying stuff used. Maperformance has alot of stuff on sale i just bought Fidanza Flywheel and 3.2 Clutch for $499 altogether great deal.

Good idea. I was going to save up a bunch of money by working 2 jobs and then when I have enough start looking for deals or when if something good like a group buy for something comes around and I have the money then I'll buy it.

Thanks for all the info and comments guys, it's helping me to refine the list to get what I need and do it right the first time.
