Alrighty,
My 1G needs new Headers, Downpipe, and a Cat.
I would like a place to buy them in a set (Headers+Downpipe works too)
I don't have too much of a price range, but when I let off my gas, my exhaust sounds like it's making pop corn Hehe.
So does anyone recommend a certain site?
I was looking at punishment racing, they look pretty decent.
Any thoughts?

I have a friend that owns an Ebay 4-2-1 manifold and down pipe and the quality is good. I suggest that you buy one of these as they are extremely cheap and if you can just delete your cat, that is if you do not have emissions testing in your state.

yea i would go with what that guy said i would delete the cat all it does is piss me off hahahahahahahahahahaahaha

get a test pipe and all kinds of good stuffs

I don't want the manifold to crack and all that.
Annndd, Deleting my cat is not an option as of now, because I just bought this car, and it is gonna have to be emissions tested =/
So if I buy the manifold and the downpipe, would I still be able to put a cat on?
PM me his link please, I wanna look at them.
Thanks.

Any exhaust work you do is just gonna make that popping sound louder. My friend has a non-turbo with a header, cat-delete, and cat-back. His car sounds exactly like what you are describing but LOUDER.

For a stock 2.0 non-turbo motor you should just do a cat-back and wait on the header until you get ready to do more modifications. Besides, later on when you decide to throw a turbo on your Talon you won't need that 4-2-1 header ;)

And we all know what the 4g63 sounds like with a turbo..

Wait, that popping sound is cool?
I thought it was like embarassing, for a tuner.
Just curious. Or do people think that makes your car ricey?
Plus, how am I gonna pass emmisions with a leaky flex tube?

Some people think Hondas sound cool ROFL

I dont think that's as riced-out as huge spoilers though, At least it was in an effort to make more power.

Before you go through emissions, you should have all the leaks in your exhaust fixed. That would be the perfect time to get a cat-back installed though :thumb:

Hmm, Okay, I'm gonna buy new headers (Currently Stock) for more speed less pop
Then I need a new downpipe, and I gotta find a new cat.
Should I go to DSM graveyard for a new cat? Or how would I come upon one?
Plus, anyone have expirence with punishment downpipes and headers?

EDIT: Good news actually, I just realized, since I already have my license plate sticker, I don't have to worry about it until next year!
Yay!

The popping noise is the air fuel mixture and the rich exhaust gas igniting as the engine goes into decel mode. The igniting in the exhaust is because of the heat in the exhaust pipe and the air being pumped through through the engine as it is deceling, fuel is cut in decel mode and only air passes through the engine which combines with the rich exhaust mixture.

eBay Motors: TSUDO HEADER 89-94 ECLIPSE/TALON 2.0L NT NON-TURBO 90 (item 160268603415 end time Aug-10-08 23:30:42 PDT)

Has anyone reviewed this header? Did it preform well?
If it did, I'm ordering it.

Okay thanks everyone!
Also, how do I fix the rich fuel mixture?
My neighborhood is filled with old people that will very likely call the cops on me because my car is too loud :D

The noise can only be canceled out with a better muffler, the popping does not mean there is anything wrong with the car just that you have good exhaust flow. My car did it when I was N/T but I also had a custom long tube header going into a large collecter then into a half of foot exhaust pipe that ended exactly after the back of my engine, My little pops were more like little explosions that you could see from behind my car. ROFL

you do know that the money you spend on the header will mostlikly buy you a used 14b and exhuast manifold.... then with an ecu, injectors and a MAF you car can be turbo......lots of people throw away all the parts you need to turbo your car......

I agree with this post.
