I am looking to rebuild a 420A engine for my 1996 Eagle Talon Esi. I was wondering what the difference is between the short and long block I keep seeing. I Have found a website that helps me with a rebuild. It recomends me to use a Long Block. I was wondering if that is a good idea. I also wanted to know if a bottem end or top end rebuild kit is better. Thanks for the help

Just as a description of the difference between a short and long block, look at the following:
Block Descriptions
Mainly, a long block will include the head. Having a fresh head is vital if you plan on rebuilding a motor. In sum, you shouldn't rebuild an entire block, but use an old, un-rebuilt head. Hope this helps.

The only reason i was planning to rebuild the whole block was to put proformance gasgets and small things like that.
