rebuild options for my 96 tsi awd

Ok guys so i just picked up this clean 96 tsi awd. Has blow by and i knew the engine was a goner. Knowing i need to rebuilt it what options should i go with? How are these cars stock. Ive never had a awd and a dsm that was stock with a turbo. Ive done a 92 turbo conversion. But i know the 2gs are dif since they have a smaller turbo stock. Should i just rebuilt the motor to stock specs and get it running first but use arp headstuds and felpro head gasket so i dont have to worry about it later or just go all out and upgrade everything like turbo, fmic, hard pipe, injectors, etc etc. The car is an auto by the way. The tranny and transfer case is litterally freshly rebuilt. Have all the paper work from it that they did to it. So with that being said ill open this thread and take in all options.

What are your hp goals for the car? I would do the upgrades after you do the engine, but you may want to do upgraded engine internals depending on your goals.

It depends on what you want out of the car

My goals are to have a bad a** awd auto talon. The sky is the limit. So 450 or 500 whp. So besides headstuds and head gasket what should the internals be switched to. I still want dependable parts. So what pistons etc run good while its stock but can handle hp upgrades.

Well stock can handle 400 with good tunning, but forge internals is the way to go. When I rebuild my bottom end I'm going with manley rods, and pistons
