I have been playing around on autocad 08 making a scoop for the rear quarter window. Think of an Eleanor GT 500 mustang. My friend wants to make a mold, im wondering is there anything like this i could buy allready???? i looked but couldnt find anything

Very bad idea.

You are going to lose what little visibility you already have if you decide to do that. Sometimes, looks are not more important than safety. Plus, window scoops only look good on Muscle Cars. Add in the fact that it would be non functional, you would be wasting your money as well.

That may be true, but I don't think it answered his question:p Seriously though, I'm currently not aware of any window scoops that are made for our cars, you'd probably have to have it made (or make it yourself as it seems you are doing).

They were first put on the mustangs to cool off the driving during a race. Maybe it will look good on a 1g. Post some pics.

Me personally i do not look at the rear quarter window while driving, waisting money?????? The cost of the fiberglass to make it is close to nothing, my buddy is going to make the mold at his college, for free. Ugly? I am a firm bbeliever in beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if i think it look cool and no one else has one, then i would hope for support in my enthusiasm for being unique, what fun would it be if all of our dsm's look a like, then were a community of followers, personally i like to lead and stand out. The one i am designing is not huge or have a huge opening, just something i am hoping can compliment the sexy curves of my car, i will post pics of our first prototype.

It's funny because I wanted to do the same thing, but never actually put as much time or effort into it as I should have... (damned DSM's breaking all the time....):p

yeah it very cool to be good at Autocad and then have a friend who is a fiberglass genius. His professor in college lets him use there lab for personal use. I have a couple pretty unique things im trying to get into the works.

the Ice Cream scoop is far better then my idea :D, but for real the blue ones is closer to what im doing then the shades.. and its not closed to just a big wind catcher, the back end is open and allows air to just go through it

So.... what are they gonna do again? Pass...air...through? Add weight? I'm lost.

Well they will probably do nothing to enhance the performance or driving in my car in any way, so i guess that is offensive to people, but the point is to be unique and have people remember seeing my car, not just another eclipse.

Why is it that people always decide to bash the OP on their idea if they don't like it, rather than just answering the question. If you don't like it, just say "I don't think I would run w/ that, but here's the answer to your question..." I say get those made, put them on, and let's see what they look like. They may look pretty sweet! There are a lot of mustangs out there that have scoops that are there for just show. Make them and let's see how they turn out. Or do a rendering of them and lets see that!

I do not get to offended by the peoples opinion here, i dont decide what to do to my car based on the peoples of this websites opinion. duraflex has made this for the 3rd gen eclipses. i wan mine to be a little curvier, and the back and front opening end cut out, to negate high speed drag, haters. the weight of these should be no more 10 lbs.
