Ok, I need some help here. When you put a new downpipe and eliminate the cat, it usually turns the check engine light on because their is no cat. What do i do to fix that problem and get the check engine light to turn off. Do they make a MIL eliminator. I have not been able to find one for these cars. I do have the MIL eliminator on my 97 mustang cobra and it works fine. Can someone help me oput or point me in the right direction. Thanks,

I had my rear O2 wired up under my car for year and never got a CEL for it. It was wired to a hanger bracket and not installed into the exhaust at all. To clear CEL's I use my pocketlogger and erase them.

If your 2nd O2 is working, you can hang it under the car and not trigger a CEL. Its responsible for detecting more O2 coming out of the catalytic converter. Since the cat produces water vapor as a by-product, the O2 sensor catches this and says that the cat is present and working.

You can fool it by hanging it outside of the exhaust system. Ambient air has lots of O2 so it can be fooled. Some people install an Oxygen Simulator in place of the Oxygen Sensor and its nothing but a resistor to close the loop.

Your O2 sensor must be bad to throw a CEL. Hanging it outside and subject to road crud will easily foul it, btw.

mine got broken by gravel so I did the vfaq to bypass it... works fine after numerous months.

make sure you heat shrink those components as you will be installing them OUTSIDE the car.
