Rear main seal leak

I have a rear main seal leak and I go through about 2 quarts a month of oil. I know this is a simple $20 fix but an all day task, Has anyone replaced the Rear main seal? How extreme is it to do? I havent jacked it up yet to look under it to see how the layout is. Can you fix this without removing the axle?

It is going to be more than removing an axle. You will either have to remove the engine or remove the transmission. The transmission is the easier of the 2.

Remove trans. Remove clutch/torque converter. Remove rear seal housing. Replace seal. Reassemble everything.
