Rear Main seal help

Alright i just replaced my rear main seal got every thing back together and im still leaking. is there something im missing?

did you replace just the seal? there is a gasket there also the plate itself could be cracked.
its only takes about 13-15 foot/lb needed on the bolls....did you make sure to have the hole on the oil plate in there facing down? also there is an oil galley plug back there too. did you check that?

all i did was replace the seal is this gasket your talking about behind the bell housing cover thats on the block? ### i never even took that off. ugh i hate working on my daily

What are you leaking? Oil or trans fluid? If trans fluid I bet it it your cv joint the gasket went bad. If its oil then go with what was said before.

no its oil its probly the gasket hes talking about i just need to know where its at

on the rear main. there is the seal in the center that seals around the crank. the horse shoe looking plate with about 6 bolts in it is the called the rear main seal plate there is a gasket that is in between that and the block. there is also a steel ring in there. you have to make sure the hole is facing down or it will leak.

look on extreme psi page under oem gaskets its like 3 bucks.....for the gasket and 20 for the plate....hope it helps out.
