So I needed to replace the wheel bearings on the rear passenger hub. I ordered 2 timken bearings and the oil seal from Autozone. The outer was fine, I removed a sealed bearing and got a sealed bearing. Then I go to open up the box of the inner bearing and I pull out a bearing that is not sealed. :ohdamn: I removed a sealed bearing from the trailing arm, the picture on the website shows a sealed bearing, but what I got was not a sealed bearing and to my knowledge you can't put a non-sealed bearing that needs packed with grease in the place of a sealed bearing. I called Autozone and had them order another one thinking that the wrong bearing had been put in the right box. It also came and was not a sealed bearing. :banghead: So my question is, what is the correct bearing part # cause Timken's 511014 appears to not be the one I'm looking for. Anyone ever have this happen to them?? BTW it's for a 91 AWD Eagle Talon TSI. Any help is much appreciated as I searched the forums and couldn't find a thread on this.

Must be getting the wrong one's. I have used that part number before. It's a National Bearings part number. BCA - 511014.

Part Number 511014
Inner Diameter 1.1024
Outer Diameter 2.2835
Width 0.6299
Inner Race Radius 0.0039
Outer Race Radius 0.0039
Series RWDB
Desc Radial Ball Bearing

That's what I thought after the first one, but then when the second one came and it was the same as the first I thought the odds of that happening 2 times in a row were pretty small.

Maybe try a different parts store. I can get one for you for probably $23.00 but that's the best I can do.

Well I just ordered a National bearing #511014 from Rock Auto. I'll keep my fingers crossed that I actually get the correct bearing.

Call them and have them physically check. Should be right though.

Sounds like good advice. Especially since my luck so far has been 0 in 2.

I'm glad I did call, I'm on hold right now, but I had the parts person call National with that part #511014 and they told her it was an open bearing not a sealed bearing, even though the picture on Rock Auto's site is of a sealed bearing. I'm trying to explain to the lady on the phone why you wouldn't want to substitute a non-sealed bearing for a sealed bearing. Ughhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

My distributor checked a National Bearing with that part number and it's exactly like the bearing in the picture.

Interesting. Rock Auto, National Bearing, and a rep from Timken all were swearing that that should be an open bearing. I kept saying no. Your own pictures show a sealed bearing. :banghead::banghead:

Are you a parts vendor?? If so, and if you are sure you can get the right bearing, let me know how to order from you. I'll do it right now.

Call JNZ. They have wheel bearing kits and it comes with everything needed to replace the wheel bearings including new dust shields etc...
