Rear grind on Launch

Alright so whenever I get going from a dead stop, i hear this weird grinding noise from the back. It is only from about 0k rpms to 1500k rpms. When i bought the car I was told that it might be the rear diff.

The grind was very noticable when the jackass before me has 4 different tires, w/ 4 different tread readings. But since i put 4 brand new tires it is not as noticable. I don't know if this will help anything, but just thought i would ad it.

I have heard alot of stories about people flying down the highway at about 90mph, and all of a sudden the rear wheels lock up. I just wanted to fix the problem before there is snow on the ground and im flying, and boom they lock up and i crash.

with those odd tires that were on there, wonder if your spider gear is all 'effed' up in the differential...

I had my rear tires lock up while doing 90, but that was the t-case. It could probably be anything in the drive train for you. I would check and replace all of your fluids with a nice synthetic like royal purple. Also, smell the old stuff to see if it smells burnt or if there are any signs of significant heat.

You mentioned the "spider gear" in the rear diff, how much would that cost to fix? and how do you fix it?

BTW ill do a rear diff drain and see if that helps

Yeah, check the rear diff fluid and look for metal flakes.

Metal flakes = bad...

And if there are metal flakes? What does that mean?

Metal flakes means that something has been damaged Severely. Dust is relatively normal in any mechanical connection, due to two parts rubbing, but flakes means the teeth are not meshing properly and likely scraping off flakes. IE it's chewing itself to pieces.
