Rear diff gear ratios

i wass wondering if there is more than one rear diff gear ratio. im getting ready to put a diff in my car i bought at a junk yard and need to know if it will work in my car is there any whay to know if it will work? or will all diffs work in all cars?

The only difference is between auto and manual.
If you have a manual tranny then you need a diff from a manual tranny car.
