Hello All,
First I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and hope everyone had a great Christmas.

I have a stupid question that I hope someone could answer. I need new brake rotors for the rear of my 95 Eclipse N/T. My question is, are the oem rotors on the rear vented or non vented? Want to order a set of brembo rotors but come as solid and vented. Unfortunately, my car is parked for the winter and will not be able to get to her till the end of the week to see whats on her.

Could anyone answer this for me?
Thanks
Chris

If they are stock i believe there non vented, But you might want to wait for someone else cause my car has drums in the back:cry: So i cant go look...But hope this helps at least a little:thumb:

There is a reason the Brembo's are not drilled. They're for high performing track cars. Of course they work great on the street too, but here's the thing..

Slotted rotors (select few) are notorious for breaking under heat stress, heat, and load. If you were to slap on some new Brembo's and do some track laps, then have them break and lock up on you : Brembo is in some deep liability shit. So, to keep things safe, they're only slotted, not drilled.

Drilled rotors often eliminate some integrity within the metal the disc was made, causing premature failure or even blatant damage.

Both drilled and slotted can take a toll on the metal in the disc, weakens the disc, and promotes hazards in a dangerous way. Liability on the manufacturer is the key word here.

I'd stay with just slotted rotors and not drilled. For safety;s sake.

Now, I'd like to clarify there are people with drilled and slotted rotors, but again, it really depends on their style of driving and ultimate use of the brakes, along with abuse to the rotor.
By vented I am going to assume you mean slotted. Unless you are referring to actual air ducts that direct air into the brake assembly. Which I can tell you right now, OEM doesn't have(In the rear). I did the rear disc conversion and the OEM rears are not slotted.
Hope this cleared some things up for you.. :thumb:

Some early '95s had vented rear brake discs: no one seems sure why. There was a rumor that a mistake was made between the 3KGT/Stealth parts, and some were put on DSMs that weren't really supposed to be there (sounds iffy).
More likely they realized the rear brakes on a FWD car are just there for ballast, and it was a wasted expense to use vented discs there.
I do not know if the vented discs were only on the AWD, or turbo cars. Nor do I know if the vented rotors got to Europe.

You really need to have someone stick a finger through your wheel and ask the car to cough.

Ok, seems to be some serious confusion here. Slotted and cross-drilled rotors were not part of the original poster's question. He simply wanted to know whether the rotors are vented or not. The answer to that question is, it doesn't matter just get the vented, because they are probably the same price and will help keep the rotor cooler.

Thats what i was thinking but i didn't know for sure if he could do that, And i not one to tell somebody to do something that i know nothing about. So I'm glad you came along and gave this guy his answer:thumb:

Thanks all for the info. I pulled my baby out this morning and started right up for sitting for a week. The rotors on the back are not vented and will go with what is on there. Could not get the brembos though. Could not find any online parts store that carried them to mail to my military address.

Thanks again everyone.
