ok i have a few questions maybe some of u guys can answer for me. 1 is the rear 02 sensor how dose it come out of the car. i men from out the little hole under the car. and #2 is it absolutely necessary to have the rear 02 sensor will i lose hp without it. thaks guys :thumb:

you have to un thread it from the exhaust then pull it up into the car from under the driver seat then you can disconnect it and find something to cover/plug the hole. no you will not lose any power (or gain any for that matter) but you will get a check engine light and you wont pas smog inspection with out it....

PS. you know you could have done a search for "rear o2" and found the answer you were looking for.

Why are you trying to remove your rear O2? As the op said, you will get 2 MIL codes if you remove it, and you won't pass emissions tests. If your new exhaust doesn't have a bung for the O2, you should leave it plugged in and try just wrapping the sensor in aluminum foil. I've had customers tell me that worked for them.

ah yea well the big problem is i snapped off the 02 sensor in the rear trying to take it out to get my new catback on i even bought the 11$ socket to try and take the 02 sensor out and that's what snapped it. i just wanted to know how to replace it and how it connects inside the car. so it just unplugs from under the drivers side seat do i have to pull up the carpet or is there a small slit in the carpet. that all i was wondering

You will have to pull the drivers side of the carpet. There is a slit but its not big enough to work in. Just take off the console side panel, the door step molding, the dead pedal, and another couple little clips. Only takes about ten mins. If its broke off I would suggest the DIY 02 simulator. I built this yesterday for 7 bucks and now the rear 02 is deleted and no more CEL's. There are 2 writeups in the electric or exhaust tech sections on how to do it easy as cake.

In the future you should defanitly have a service manual, you can even rent a manual from a local library. An o2 simulator will work...sometimes, they are hit or miss with my experience, i tried several of them and didnt have goodluck. A sensor wrapped in tinfoil will get very hot so be carefull. If you have a mildly modified car your best bet would be to install a working o2 sensor.

In the future, use lots of penetrant, get the 'bung' on the exhaust very hot with a torch (wear gloves and safety glasses and be carefull) and make sure the o2 sensor socket stays nice and straight and doesnt get cocked to the side when unscrewing.

i torched it 2 different days in a row and hit with with about 1 whole can of pb blaster this bitc# wasn't coming out LOL i ended up rounding over the 02 sensor. any who i just wanted to know how to replace the sensor. i dont have a cel btw ive put about 100+ miles after braking the plug and no cel. but thanks

Your o2 sensor is probably cross threaded in there. I've seen that more than once. Consider removing the exhaust. I know its a pain but to work in a tight spot I think is a lot worse. Once you get it out you may have to retap the threads. After put never seize on the threads. It will be a lot easier next time to work on. I know of 2 2g's RS & GSX w/a cat delete that throw no cel codes and pass emissions. Hope this helps.
