really bad sound......

coming home tonight i had a really bad scare..... coming out of a parking lot i gunned it and turned sharp, while straightening out i heard a really LOUD knocking that seemed to come from under the shifter assy. but then when i slowed and finished turning it stopped..... does anyone know what it might be? and do you think it'll kill my car? i have an idea of what it may be, but i want to hear someone elses opinion before i go off half-cocked, any insight?

Sounds like it was an axle possibly. Happened to me too.

thats what i was thinking but it hasn't done it all day.... so maybe not.... fluke you think?

There is a possibility that the axle came apart, but then fell back together. I've seen it and had it happen. But you won't know until you do an inspection.
